With the warmer days, summer is the time for doing the things we love. However, summer can also be a painful time with aches after gardening, twinges from rolling around with the kids or more than a little muscle tightness after a summer evening walk.
As our activity increases and we put more stress on our muscles and joints often those old injuries, as well as any new ones, will show up. At Aceso Chiropractic we understand how frustrating pain can be, particularly when it is stopping you from enjoying the things you love to do.
This summer keep active with these top tips:
Keep hydrated - did you know that our blood is 90% water? That is an amazing amount and as the weather warms up it is easy to become dehydrated. On average we should be aiming to drink 2 litres a day.
Warm up before gardening - treat gardening like a sport and spend 5 minutes before you start doing some movement and stretches to keep your muscles warm and loose.
Keep moving - when we are moving our nervous system comes alive and releases endorphins which are the chemicals that improve how we feel. So, when the weather is cool in the morning or evening enjoy a moderate walk for about 20 minutes.
Finally, if pain is stopping you, book an adjustment to keep your spine in tip top shape.
Wishing you all a summer of fun.
Chris
